Nickel atom can lose two electrons to form Ni^2+ ion. The atomic number of nickel is 28. From which orbital will nickel lose two electrons.

The electronic configuration of Ni is 3d8 4s² ..so its two electrons will b lost from 4s orbital becuz it is at higher energy level than 3d orbital....in d block elements first electrons are removed from s orbital then from d orbital...
