Given :  Nikhil gets paid a 5 percent commission on every pair of shoes that he sells.

He earned $1.00 on the last pair of shoes that he sold.

The expression that can be used to represent x, the price of the shoes, is 0.05 x = 1

To Find :  the price of the shoes

Solution:

0.05 x = 1

Multiplying by 100 on both sides

=> 5x  = 100

Dividing by 5 both sides

=> 5x/5  = 100/5

=> x  = 20

Hence price of shoes = 20 $
