Answer:

Nikhila is 13m NE from the starting point.

Step-by-step explanation:

let the starting point be O,

1. 10m to southeast ( O to A )

2. 25m to east         ( A to B )

3. 10m to northwest ( B to C )

4. 13m to west           ( C to D )

5. 5m to right             ( D to E )  E is in North-East position

1 and 3 are opposite and equal => displacement 1 = 0

2 and 4 are opposite and in same line => displacement = 25-13 = 12m E

5 is 5m to the right (North)

so finally we get a right triangle with base =  12m and height= 5m

=> the hypotenuse will be the total displacement

=> hyp = \sqrt{base^2 + height^2}  (as per pythagorous theorem)

            = \sqrt{12^{2} + 5^{2} } m

            = \sqrt{144+25} } m

            = \sqrt{169 }m

            = 13m

=> Nikhila is 13m NE from the starting point (see attachment)
