558 Rs Profit

Step-by-step explanation:

Nilesh bought 420 Books for 3990 + 420 = 4410

Out of 420 Books 6 Lost 420 - 6 = 414

Nilesh Sold 414 books at the Rate of 144rs per Dozen Means 12 Rs / Book .

So Price of Books Sold = 414 x 12 = 4968 Rs

So 4968 - 4410 =  558 Rs Profit

If the cost of transportation is Rs. 420 on Rs. 3990 and 6 were lost in transportation, then the gain per cent is 14.28%.

Step-by-step explanation:

Cost of 420 books = Rs. 3990

Cost of transportation = Rs. 420

Total Cost of 420 books including transportation charges = 3990 + 420 = Rs. 4410

It is given that, 6 books out of 420 books were lost during transportation, so no. of books left will be = 420 – 6 = 414

The cost of 414 books will be = [4410/420] * 414 = Rs. 4347 ….. (i)

Also given that, remaining  414 books were sold at Rs. 144/dozen

The S.P. of 414 books will be = [144/12] * 414 = Rs. 4968 ….. (ii)

From (i) & (ii), we can see that S.P. > C.P., therefore Nilesh will make a profit in the transaction.

Thus,

The gain per cent is,

= [(S.P. – C.P.)/C.P.] * 100

= [(4968 - 4347)/4347] * 100

= [621/4347] * 100

= 14.28%
