Nima went into a supermarket to buy some fruit.

There were three packs on special offer:
1) Ten grapes and five strawberries: Rs70 (save 10/-)
2) Ten strawberries and ten apricots: Rs140 (save 40/-)
3) Thirty grapes: Rs100 (save 20/-)

What would be the full price of one grape, one strawberry and one apricot at normal price (no special offers)?

Answer:

We have

10G+5S=70+10(SPECIAL OFFER)=80 ............(1)

10S+10A=180 .............(2)

30G=120 ⇒G= 4

WHERE G IS GRAPES ; S FOR STRABERRY AND A FOR APRICOT

SO G= 4  putting in 1,

10×4+5S=80

5S=40

⇒S=8  putting in 2,

10×8+10A=180

⇒10A=180−80

⇒10A=100⇒

A=10

Hence  the full price of one grape, one strawberry and one apricot at normal price are Rs 4, Rs 8, Rs 10 respectively
