The Nissl bodies are composed of Endoplasmic reticulum and free ribosomes, mainly used for protein synthesis which are large structured granular looking bodies found in neurons.

Explanation:

Nissl bodies can be found in the cell body but not at the axon of the neurons. To find these bodies a blue dye either thionin or cresyl violet stain is used to show clumps of granules often known as Nissl Bodies, due to such clumpy structure it is easy to spot ER or endoplasmic reticulum through an electron microscope.
