• One reason why humans forget is because of interference.
• Memories compete with each other hence causing interference.
• Interference is most likely to occur when the new information being memorised is similar to the older one.

• There are two kinds of interferences:

1. When memories made in the past make it difficult to make new memories, it is known as Proactive Interference.
2. When the new memories that are made make it difficult to retrieve old memories, it is known as Retroactive interference.
