nitin can do a piece of work in 24 days while Raman can do it in 30 days. In how
many days can they complete it, if they work together?

Answer is 40 by 3 days

Given:

Nitin can do a piece of work in 24 days

Raman can do it in 30 days

To find:

In how  many days can they complete it, if they work together?

Solution:

Nitin alone can do a piece of work in 24 days

So, in 1 day, Nitin can do = \frac{1}{24}

Raman alone can do the piece of work in 30 days

So, in 1 day, Raman can do = \frac{1}{30}

Now,

In 1 day, both Nitin and Raman can complete,

=  \frac{1}{24} + \frac{1}{30}

= \frac{5\: + \:4}{120}

= \frac{9}{120}

∴ Both Nitin & Raman can complete the work in = \frac{120}{9} = \frac{40}{3} \:days =\bold{ 13.33 \:days}

Thus, if they work together, then Nitin and Raman will complete the work in 13.33 days.
