Also given that : Total number of students in class = 49

Let, the rank of the Nitin from the last be 'x'

As we know that from the formula :

$Total \: number \: of \: students \: =( \: Number \: of \: Top \: + \: Number \: of \: Last \: - 1)$

According to the question :

49 = ( 18 + x - 1 )

=> 49 = 17 + x

=> x = 49 - 17

=> x = 32
