Nitrogen and oxygen combine to form many oxides. In some oxides, 14 m
nitrogen combines with either 16m of oxygen or 32 gm of oxygen. In some oth
oxides 28 gm nitrogen combines with 16, 48 or 80gm oxygen () What are th
formulae of the oxides. (ii) What law of chemical combination does the formatie
of these compounds illustrate? How?

The formula of the oxides of nitrogen when combines with oxygen are NO, NO2 , N2O, NO3, N2O5 ,etc.

The formula of these illustrates direct combination reaction, because here two elements combine to form a compound .
