it's law of reciprocal proportion. according to which if two different elements combine separately with the same weight of a third element, the ratio of the masses in which they combine are either the same or a simple multiple of the mass ratio in which they combine. here nitrogen and oxygen combine with hydrogen Seperatly to give NH3 and h2o so, nitrogen and oxygen combine to produce O2.
