Nitrogen (atomic number 7) and phosphorus (atomic number 15) belong to group 15 of the Periodic Table. Write the electronic configuration of these two elements. Which of these will be more electronegative? Why?​

Answer:

Nitrogen (7): 2, 5

Phosphorus (15): 2, 8, 5

Since, electronegativity decreases with moving from top to bottom in a group, thus Nitrogen will be more electronegative.

Nitrogen=2,7

phosphorus =2,8,5

Now

As we move from left to right in a periodic table period from the starting one had less electronegative as we increases at last the electronegativity increases .
