Nitrogen gas is collected by upward displacement of water

Explanation:

Because Nitrogen has a similar weight to that of air and cannot be collected by upward displacement of air.Also it mixes with air to give an impure mixture which is not needed as a product.So it is collected by upward displacement of water as it is lighter than water.
