Nitrogen is an essential nutrient for plant growth. But farmers who cultivate
pulse crops like green gram, black gram, etc., do not apply nitrogenous fertilisers
during cultivation. Why?​

Because plants cannot take nitrogen directly, they take it with the help of some kinds of bacterias which turn nitrogen into useful nitrates which plants take like we take in proteins. There are some kinds of plants too which have the potential to directly change nitrogen into useful nitrates for example, beans
