Cross like green gram , Bengal gram , black gram etc are all leguminous plants which have. All leguminous plants have root nodules which contain some of the nitrogen-fixing bacteria like Rhizobium which fix the atmospheric nitrogen into soluble forms which can be easily taken by plants. So they don't need extra sources of nitrogen.
