Small error in your question..!

Nitrogen is present in abundance and not in ambulance.
_______________

Nitrogen is present in abundance in the atmosphere but we still obtain it from \bold{plants.}

This is because,

It cannot be used \bold{directly} by plants and animals when it is in the \bold{air.}

Firstly, it has to be fixed with some \bold{nitrogen-fixing\:bacteria.}

And then, it can be \bold{absorbed} by plants and animals.

Nitrogen is present in the atmosphere but it is not present in the right form and we cannot make use of it. It is through plants that the right form of nitrogen is made available to us through the process of nitrogen-fixing.

Explanation:

  • The process through which the nitrogen in molecular form is converted to urea, or ammonia or any other nitrogen-containing compound is known as nitrogen fixation.
  • This is a fundamental activity of microorganisms. Nitrogen-fixing can be aerobic as well as anaerobic.
  • Anaerobic nitrogen fixation is done by bacteria like Clostridium. Aerobic nitrogen fixation is done by bacteria and other life forms as Azotobacter, Lichens, Anabaena, etc.
