Also, oxygen has same number of shells as nitrogen. Thus electrons in oxygen atom will be closer to nucleus than in the case of nitrogen. The same explanation applies for fluorine where the atom has nine electrons. When electrons are closer it means atomic radius is smaller.

See in the modern periodic table if u observe carefully oxygen and nitrogen lie in the 2nd period. Oxygen lies first then nitrogen lies. Nitrogen has smaller atomic radius because ATOMIC RADIUS GOES ON DECREASING WHILE GOING FROM LEFT TO RIGHT WITHIN A PERIOD
