2) a) The left atrium and right atrium are the two upper chambers of the heart. The left atrium receives oxygenated blood from the lungs. The right atrium receives deoxygenated blood returning from other parts of the body. Valves connect the atria to the ventricles, the lower chambers.

B) The structural difference between the auricles and ventricles are as follows: Explanation: The auricle is the upper chamber of the heart and the ventricle is the lower chamber of the heart. The ventricles of the heart have the thick muscular walls as compared to the auricle.

c) The pulmonary artery carries impure blood to the right and left lungs. The left half of the heart collects and pumps pure (oxygenated) blood from the lungs to all parts of the body. The blood from the lungs enters the heart from four veins called the Pulmonary Veins.

D) cardiac muscle

e) The word septum is derived from the Latin for “something that encloses;” in this case, a septum (plural = septa) refers to a wall or partition that divides the heart into chambers. Valves of the Heart: the septum between the atria and ventricles is known as the atrioventricular septum
