No body has written me any letter into passive
Answers
Answer:
The clearest passive of this is “Letters aren’t written”. There is no need to include the subject, even when the subject is more normal than “nobody”. In fact, it is “more passive” to not include the subject at all.
There was a book about abuse of the passive entitled “Mistakes were made (but not by me)”. I had a friend who was a proofreader at a magazine. One writer used the passive a lot. So, my friend said he should have a stamp made up “Did you intend to use the passive voice?” and I said a better stamp would be “Was the passive voice intended?”
In this particular case, adding nobody into the passive voice of the sentence produces sentences that are pretty incomprehensible.
I would say that about 90% of the uses of the passive voice that I encounter should be active voice.
