Generally speaking there is no overall mass change for both physical and chemical changes. The masses are just rearranged, for example in different phases (boiling of water) or in different compounds (2H2 + O2 = 2H2O). Mass may be lost from the locality (e.g. by water evaporating) but all the mass is still somewhere.

Answer: There is no change in mass of a substance during a physical as well as a chemical change because of the law that mass cannot be created nor destroyed . Masses can only be rearranged in different compounds or change their state but mass is always present . during a physical change the arrangement of particles may change but number of atoms or molecules [ mass ] remains the same .
