No chemical reaction takes place when granules of a solid A are mixed with powder of another solid B. However, when mixture is heated, a section takes place between its components. One of the products, C, is a metal and settles in the molten state, while the other product D floats over it. It was observed that the reaction is highly exothermic.
Based on given information, make an assumption about A and B and write a chemical equation for the chemical reaction indicating the conditions of reaction, physical state of reactants and products and thermal states of the reaction. Mention any 2 types of reactions under which the above chemical reaction can be classified.

A is ferrous oxide and B is pure aluminium powder

C is iron which is obtained in the molten form at the end of a reaction.

This reaction is famously known as thermal reaction of iron. In this reaction solid pieces of iron is mixed with aluminium and is heated up.

The aluminium which is highly reactive than iron displaces iron from its oxide and the products formed are pure iron metal and Aluminium oxide. Since this reaction is highly exothermic reaction the iron metal obtained is in molten form. This reaction can be classified into two types 1. displacement reaction 2. Exothermic reaction

Fe2O+ Al - > Fe +Al2O
