BEC stands for Bose-Einstein Condensate which is defined as the state of matter of a dilute gas of bosons which is cooled to temperatures very close to absolute zero. BEC is a state of affairs made up of weakly interacting bosons at very near absolute zero temperatures. After reaching this temperature, most bosons occupy the lowest quantum state of the external potential. BEC was the first forecast about 1924 by Satyendra Nath Bose and Albert Einstein.
