Hi friend,

Here is your answer,

When the food reaches stomach then only partial digestion has taken place so absorption can not take place at this point of time . The second reason is that stomach does not have villi.

The digestive system helps the absorption and egestion of food and this is carried over in four steps: ingestion, digestion, absorption, and egestion.

Explanation:

  • The main food storage tank is the stomach. While storing the food, the stomach also secretes mixture of acid, mucus, and digestive enzymes which help in digesting the food.
  • Rugae or gastric folds are the wrinkles found in the inner layer of the stomach that help the stomach in stretching so that it can accommodate large meals and helps the movement of food during digestion. Hence, stomach is only the food storage tank.
