Answer:

The author explains why no member of the Garoghlanian family could be a thief when describing the shock of seeing his cousin Mourad with a white horse.

Mourad could not have bought the horse because they had no money. But the author refused to believe that he could have stolen it because the family was an honest family, and they were well known for their honesty and had been so for nearly eleven centuries. Regardless of whether they were rich or poor, they were first, a very proud family, followed by being honest. The author says that they were so proud of their own honesty, and their reputation for being honest, that they would never dream of stealing from anyone.

Thanks for the question.

Hope it helps you.

No member could be a thief as the community was famous for their honesty.

  • The question has been asked from the story The Summer of the Beautiful White Horse
  • Even though they are currently in poverty, the family was well known for their integrity even when they were well off.
  • They were honest and believed in right and wrong. None of them would intentionally exploit somebody.
  • However, when Aram saw his cousin with the horse, he was surprised, as he know he didn't have the money to buy the horse.
  • Later, the children returned the animal as they were troubled with guilt. Thus, they were known as no one can be a thief.
