Answer:

15 is the median

Step-by-step explanation:

median is the middle number of numbers

which are first in order so when we do the numbers in order:-5,9,11,15,17,20.23

so the middle number is 15

Answer:

Median = 34.35

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given the following frequency distribution below;

     Classes               Frequency (f)                 Cumulative frequency (cf)

       0 - 10                         5                                              5

      10 - 20                       15                                             20

      20 - 30                      20                                            40

     30 - 40                      23                                             63

      40 - 50                      17                                              80

      50 - 60                      11                                               91

      60 - 70                      9                                              100

                                    ∑f = 100

Firstly, we will calculate \frac{N}{2}, (where N = ∑f), \frac{N}{2} = \frac{100}{2} = 50.

So, the value of cumulative frequency just greater than or equal to 50 is 63.

Therefore, median class is 30 - 40 .

Now, Median formula =  x_L + \frac{\frac{N}{2} -cf}{f_m}*c

where, x_L = lower limit of median class = 30

             N =  ∑f = 100

            f_m = frequency of median class = 23

             cf = cumulative frequency just above the median class = 40

            c = width of class interval = 10

So, Median = 30 + \frac{\frac{100}{2} -40}{23}*10

                   = 30+\frac{100}{23} = 30 + 4.35 = 34.35 .

Therefore, Median of given distribution is 34.35 .
