When the three men were deciding what things to take for the trip, George gave a significant look and said that they would not take oil. The others agreed. Once they had taken an oil stove with them on a trip and felt as if they had been living in an oil shop. The paraffine oil oozed and everything smelt of paraffine oil. So at the end of the trip they had taken an oath that they would never take oil with them on any trip. This time they decided to take methylated spirit.
