Answer:

1. To decrease friction and to let play very smoothly.

2. It is because of vibration of mechanical parts.

3.There is very low friction.

4. To increase the area so that the pressure decreases.

1.Sprinkling of powder on the carom board reduces friction.

The carrom board may sometimes be very rough. Sprinkling powder on a microscopic level, the powder particles offer rolling friction to the striker because of which the striker can be used for smooth and fast play.

2.Noise of electrical machinery is generated by the vibration of machine parts.

3.Ice has a very low coefficient of friction so it is difficult to apply force. It makes it difficult to walk on a glacier.

4.Large vehicles have broad tyres because broad tyres have large area of contact and less pressure on the ground. Because of this, large or heavy vehicles (like tractor and buses) can move even on soft roads and fields without sinking.

5.By rubbing their hands with soil, they make their hands rough. A rough surface has more friction which enhances theirgrip while holding the opponent.
