During the late 19 the century and the early 19th century, Bengal was a princely state ruled by the Nawabs.

It was the largest province in India at that time, compromising of Bihar, Odisha, Jharkehand.

During the partition, The reason given by the British was of Administrative Convienance.

The main reason of the partition was to break the overall communal unity of the people of Bengal. People if different faiths lived at Bengal at that time. Thus was to divide them on the basis of relegion.

The British did so as they were unable to control the political situation if Bengal. Hence, to curb and bring this situation to control, was a important reason for the partition.

The main reason behind the partition of Bengal was that the british wanted to break the people on the bases of religion,caste etc. So, they fired between the different religion and this led to the partition of Bengal.
