We have,

  • Voltage used by the bulb = 220V
  • Power consumed by the bulb = 60 W

Now, what should be the value of fuse? first of all,

  • A fuse is made for, when more current than the required amount pásses through it, it will break and the circuit will be open, basically for the protection of appliance.
  • Now, from the above statement, we can notice that fuse mainly depends upon the current that will flow through it. now, we need to find how much current is need for the bulb to work properly.

= Fuse = Power consumed/Voltage

= Fuse = 60/220

= Fuse = 0.27 A

  • Now, as when 0.27 A of current will flow through it, then it will work so the rating of fuse much be slightly more.. ie, 0.3 A or something

Therefore, value of fuse will be > 0.27 A.

If the voltage will be this high;

  • Obviously, more amount of current will flow through it, as i ∝ v
  • Now, the current will be more then the bulb will glow more brighter & more power wil be consumed, it will get heated soon and there are chances that the tungsten may melt & bulb will now longer be used then.

For the last part, we have,

  • The bulb glows for 5 hours in 28 days

And we know that, electrical energy spent is,

  • No. of hours × power consumed by appliance/1000
  • Note*- I have divided it by 1000 to convert it into unit (kj) .

Now just put all the values;

= 5 × 28 × 60/1000

= 28 × 6/20

= 8.4 unit(kj)

Therefore, the total energy consumed by the bulb will be 8.4 units.
