GIVEN,

TOTAL NUMBER OF CARDBOARD BRICKS = 150

LET THE NUMBER OF BRICKS USED TO MAKE CHIMNEY BE X.

SO, BRICKS USED TO MAKE AN ARCH = 4X

REMAINING BRICKS = 15

SO,

X + 4X + 15 = 150

5X = 150 - 15

5X = 135

X = 135/5

X = 27.

SO NUMBER OF BRICKS USED TO MAKE CHIMNEY = X = 27

NUMBER OF BRICKS USED TO MAKE AN ARCH = 4X = 4 X 27 = 108

TOTAL NUMBER OF BRICKS HE USED =

27 + 108 = 135
