Noble gas are inert they does not react with other substances because they had already completed their octate and they does not have any free electrons to react. Their valency is zero. For example : Helium's atomic number is 2 and electronic configuration is 2 in K cell so he is self sufficient and does not react with other substances.

noble gases are called inert gases because they were thought to be inert that means not cable to form compounds... and this is the main reason.
