nominator of a rational number is greater than its number by 8 if the numerator is increased by 17 and the denominator is decreased by 1. the number obtained is 3/2. find the rational number.

let the denominator be x
the numerator= x-8
according to qstn
{(x-8)+17}/(x-1)= 3/2
(x+9)/(x-1)= 3/2
2x+18=3x-1
x=19
x-8= 19-8= 11
the rational number = 11/19
