If so, then why is conventional sources more popular than non-conventional power resources

1st ans:       CONVENTIONAL SOURCES are those sources which get depleted fast and cannot regenerate fast or not regenerate at all and therefore have very little chance for future generations to enjoy.Also non conventional resources  are renewable and can regenrate very fast.They will be there for future generations to enjoy.That is why non conventional sources are known as energy of the future.
2nd ans:      conventional resouces are already known to us and we are used to using it.it  is sometimes works more better and faster than others
