The Non-Cooperation movement was launched in 1921.

• Thousands of students left government- controlled schools and colleges, headmasters and teachers resigned, and lawyers gave up their legal practices. Foreign goods were boycotted, liquor shops picketed and foreign clothes were in huge bonfires. The import of foreign cloth halved between 1921 and 1922, its value dropped from ₹ 102 crore to ₹ 57 crore.

Causes : The conditions created by the First World War,Rowlatt Act, Jallianwala Bagh incidents mistreatment of Khalifa were the basic cause behind the movement.

• The main motive of the movement was to boycott foreign goods and to promote Swadeshi khadi and other products which were made in India.
