Non green plants obtain their food from other source by absorbing their nutrient . some example of such types of tree are mould,mushroom etc.

Non green plants cannot make their own food because they do not have chlorophyll in their leaves which breaks down carbon dioxide and water molecules thus do not produce glucose(food).that is why they have heterotrophic nutrition
