2H2O) is found as a deposit in sedimentary rocks of many ages, With shale, sandstone, and limestone; it is often found with rock salt. The almost valueless mineral, anhydrite (CaSO4) is found with gypsum, and may be mistaken for it; but it is harder, heavier, and breaks into square pieces.
