HEY MATE HERE YOUR ANSWER......

Non- metals do not react with acid to produce hydrogen gas because

–:h + ions need electron to reduce but non metals are electron acceptor they do not release electrons for reduction of h + ions to produce H2 gas.

Metals have the tendency to lose electrons...
Hydrogen need one electron to complete its duplet state... Metal easily lose the electron and hydrogen becomes stable and form compound for e. g. Aluminium hydroxide... But in any state there is no possibility that the metal may displace hydrogen. Hydrogen has strong bond with acids.
