Non metal is the element which form negative ions by gaining electrons but hydrogen is a non metal but he a positive ions why

hydrogen forms a positive ion just like metals. still, it combines with very reactive metals. ... But sometimes it shows properties of halogens also, it can form H+ as well as H- ion. When hydrogen reacts with a non-metal it forms H+ ion and when it attached to a metal it can form H- ion.
