Non metals are bad conductor of heat and electricity activity

Material is good conductor of electric current if it has one or more free electrons in the outer shell of the atoms which are loosely bound to their atoms. However, the electrons in the non-metals are tightly bound to their atoms and are not free to flow. This makes non-metals poor conductor of electricity.
