The Northern part of India is more flood-prone than Southern part due to the following reasons:

  • Most cities of the Northern India are situated on the water banks of major rivers; hence, in monsoon, they are severely prone to floods.
  • The cities in Southern India are relatively new and therefore, had a better urban planning attached to them. This reduces the probability of floods.
