Northern parts of India has more flood prone areas when compared to South India. Why ?

Chances of flood increases as the river in full flow compounded with heavy rains. In summer, the rivers, fed from the Himalayas are full. Monsoon too occurs in the summer. So, chance of floods in the extreme north are more. Other factors, increase the effect of floods.
