northern plains of India are fertile alluvial flat level land formed by deposition of silt brought by the big rivers and their tributaries (ganga yamuna Brahmaputra) thus fit for agriculture

The Great plains were made of alluvial deposition of rivers that running through India.  

Most of the northern plains formed of alluvial soil that deposited by the Ganga and Bramaputra rivers and rich in vegetation. The Northern Plains are capable of growing various crops rather than any other area in India which are capable of growing few crop types.


Human settlements have made its exponential growth in the Northern Plain since the ancient time just because of its fertility.
