The Northern plains have been formed since long due to the major deposition made by three rivers namely Indus, Ganga and Brahmaputra and their respective tributaries. Due to their confluence and interplay, huge reserves of alluvium was deposited in these plains. So, these plains actually turned out to be a playground of alluvial soil.
