The three main reasons why many people welcomed the printed book and those did were also worried about its impact. Following are the ideas why many of them worried about the impact of the increasing readership of novels or printed books:

1. The novels took away people from their real surroundings to an imaginative world.

2. Novels or printed books could easily corrupt the thoughts of people; therefore, women and children were advised not to read novels.

3. Men were skeptical of females reading or composing novels. This mistrust cut across societies. Many thought women would grow stubborn and refuse to adhere to customs.
