Northern plains have a moderate climate which is good for cultivation of crops and many tribals migrate from South to North in summer due to there cattle's .except it's climate Northern part I'd also good in soil fertility as compared to black soil found in southern part north have much variety of soils which actually leads to crop vegetation. Northern part also got the equal amount of humid and dryness at some particular parts of it . It's said that northern have a large forest reserve which maintains it's ecosystem .and according to transport the northern part of India is much more convenient then southern part cause the roads r linked together and the shipping of things r easy to do eg- crops .Northern have good industry which helps it to progress.
hope it helped
