Shirley Toulson is the writer of this poem. This poem expresses the grief of the author as she recalls the memories spent with her mother while looking at childhood photo.

There were three girls in the photo. Among them, one was her mother when she was of age 12. The other two beside her mother were Betty and Dolly. Her uncle clicked this photograph when they went to beach.

The poet's mother was dead 12 years ago which is the same number as of the poet's mother's age when the photograph was clicked. The poet looked at the sweet smile of her mother in the photograph. She couldn't explain her grief of her mother's death.
