The wind carries the gases high into the sky. There the compounds react with the water in the atmosphere and acids are made.

as the name indicates the rain containing excess of acid it is called acid rain. the rain becomes acidic due to two pollutants like carbon dioxide, Sulphur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide dissolved in the raindrops to form carbonic acid ,sulfuric acid and nitric acid respectively. acid rain can cause damage to buildings ,historical monuments ,plants and animals.
