Chloroplasts are organelles found in plant cells and eukaryotic algae that conduct photosynthesis.

Chloroplasts absorb sunlight and use it in coexistence with water and carbon dioxide gas to produce food for the plant.

These are green coloured plastids . they have green coloured pigment called chlorophyll . chloroplasts are abundant in parts exposed to light, e.g. leaves. They also have other pigments such as orange, yellow, but these pigments are masked by large quantities of chlorophyll. Their functions is to trap sunlight and absorb CO2 for the manufacture of starch and sugar during photosynthesis.
