MONTANE FORESTS:
A decrease in temperature and an increase in altitude affect the natural vegetation of an area. Thus, in mountains different types of vegetation is found in different altitudes.
At a height of about:
1000-2000m- wet temperate forests are found, evergreen broad leaved trees
1500-3000m- temperate forests with coniferous trees like pine fir etc.
At higher altitudes temperate grasslands are found.
Above 3,600m above sea level- Alpine forests are found.
When it reaches the snowline the trees become stunted.
