Ovulatory phase :-

It is the shortest phase of menstrual cycle.

It involves rupturing of the mature graafian

follicle and release of ovum (secondary

oocyte) into the pelvic cavity; usually on 14th

day of menstrual cycle. Rapid secretion of LH

by positive feedback mechanism causes the

mature follicle to rupture. Ovulation may be

accompanied by mild or severe pains in lower

abdomen.

Explanation:

Ovulation is the time when an egg is released from the dominant follicle (winner of the race) within an ovary, into the fallopian tube where it can become fertilized by sperm. ... Once an egg is released, the egg is viable for up to 1 day, while sperm can be viable for up to 3 days.

HOW LONG IS OVULATION PHASE:-

A normal luteal phase can last anywhere from 11 to 17 days. In most women , the luteal phase lasts 12 to 14 days. Your luteal phase is considered to be short if it lasts less than 10 days. In other words, you have a short luteal phase if you get your period 10 days or less after you ovulate.
